# English Jobs Europe

> English Jobs Europe is a job search platform for English-speaking roles across Europe. It helps non-local speakers find work. By default, it searches for jobs requiring only English. Users can specify additional languages they speak to broaden the search. You can search for these English-speaking jobs by crafting URLs as explained below.

This site searches whole countries and has no job pages of its own: each result links out to the job. Every country also has its own job board, listed under "Allowed Countries" below. To search by city, use that country's board, which documents its URLs in its own `/llms.txt`.

## How to generate search engine results pages

To generate a search URL, follow these patterns. The base URL is `https://englishjobs.eu`.

### URL Structure

1. `/jobs/{query}`: For searching across Europe by job title or keyword.
2. `/in/{country}`: For listing the jobs in a country.
3. `/in/{country}/{query}`: For searching by both country and query.

### Path Parameters

- `{query}`: The job title, keyword, or skill to search for. If it contains spaces, URL-encode them (e.g., `software developer` becomes `software%20developer`).
- `{country}`: The ID of the country. Must be one of the values from the "Allowed Countries" list below. Any other value, such as a city, is treated as a Europe-wide text search.

### Query Parameters

- `include`: (Optional) A dot-separated list of additional languages the user speaks. This will include jobs that require English *plus* any of the specified languages.
  - You can include up to 4 languages.
  - The language values must come from the "Allowed Languages for `include`" list below.
- `tags`: (Optional) A comma-separated list of filters, from the "Allowed Filters" list below. Without a query or a country, the filters go in the path instead: `/jobs/remote`.

### Examples

- **Query-only:** `GET https://englishjobs.eu/jobs/software%20developer`
- **Country-only:** `GET https://englishjobs.eu/in/germany`
- **Query and country:** `GET https://englishjobs.eu/in/germany/software%20developer`

## Fetching pages as Markdown

Any page on this site can be fetched as Markdown instead of HTML by adding the `format=markdown` query parameter (or the shorter alias `format=md`) to the URL. The response is served as `text/markdown; charset=utf-8` and includes a `Link: <html-url>; rel="canonical"` header pointing to the HTML version.

This works on any GET request, including search result pages. Static assets and machine-readable feeds (`.xml`, `.json`, `.txt`) are served unchanged.

**The `format` parameter must be appended to every request.** Links inside a Markdown response point at the canonical HTML URLs (without `?format=markdown`), so when following a link you must re-append the parameter yourself to keep receiving Markdown.
